Columbus, Ohio – Fast food restaurants bring you quick, convenient and cheap meals.  They also bring you high fat, salt and sugar.  It doesn’t always have to be that way.  Jason Yun from Yun Fitness Boot Camps compiled a list of the healthiest “fast foods” available so you can stay on track with your nutrition plan.

  • Wendy’s Ultimate Chicken Grill and Mandarin Chicken Salad

Avoid mayo and dressing and these are your best choices at Wendy’s.  The sandwich has 7 grams of fat.  The salad has 25 grams of fat; 3 from saturated fat and the rest are the heart healthy kind.

  • Subway’s Oven-Roasted Chicken Breast and Veggie Delite

Be aware that Subway’s wheat bread is actually enriched bread so it is not as healthy as real whole wheat bread.  Also make sure not to go overboard with your portions because you think what you are eating is healthier.

  • Quizno’s Small Honey Bourbon Chicken on Wheat

This sandwich comes in at 310 calories and 4 grams of fat if you go with mustard and not mayonnaise.

  • McDonald’s Grilled Chicken and Premium Southwest Salad with Grilled Chicken

This sandwich is the best out of the choices you have at McDonald’s.  Be sure to get the salad with grilled chicken, not crispy.

  • Chipotle’s Chicken Burrito Bowl

Chipotle is not a very healthy place to dine but if it is your only choice, this Burrito Bowl is your best option.  Get the bowl with lettuce, black beans, green or red salsa and guacamole.  It comes in at 480 calories, 21 grams of fat, 62 grams of protein, 35 grams of carbs and a shopping 18 grams of fiber.

Yun reminds you that fast food is not even as close to healthy as you get when you cook at home.  But, sometimes it is your only option.  When it is, make sure to make the best choices.

I truly believe that we have reached the point where technology has become one with our society, and I am 99% certain that we have passed the point of no return in our relationship with technology.I don’t mean this in a bad way, of course! Ethical concerns aside… I just hope that as memory becomes less expensive, the possibility of uploading our memories onto a digital medium becomes a true reality. It’s a fantasy that I daydream about all the time.(Submitted by rrPost for R4i Nintendo DS.)
