most of the brands at trader joes or whole foods will be good. in a regular super market, browberry, or try the health food section. but always check the ingredients no matter what brand it is and what the package says

Yeah, I was bummed when I read the 100% whole wheat bread I was eating had corn syrup in it too--listed second. I am going to try Raisin Rack to see what they offer.
Please post if you find a good one!

Every type of bread has sugar in it. If there was no sugar there would be nothing for the yeast to feed off of. If you have no food for the yeast you have no fermentation, which means no rising of the bread.

Different types of sugar are used to give the bread different characteristics in terms of amount of browning, how the bread holds water, how quickly it will stale, etc.

Of course it's always a good idea to read nutrition labels and see what is in the food that you are consuming. A sugar source shouldn't be listed first on the label but it's unrealistic to expect that the bread doesn't have any sugar in it. I like Jimmy John's because they actually scoop out the bread and if you bug them they will load it with veggies too.

Wow, all the breads have some form of sugar in them. Maybe that's typical. I don't know. I guess I could do worse like that Taco Bell I did yesterday. Love the squirrel. Is that the super hero version of you Jason?

Sometimes, running late for work, right across the street from Micky D's sits the Subway, so you want to do the lesser of two evils. Just always wondered why they didn't do right by their bread.

I enjoy their salads made with all of my favorite fresh veggies. Dressing can be on the side or on the salad.

I still love the fact that no other sandwich gives you the amount of veggies on it that a Subway sub does. Is there a "least worst" bread? Convenience is key when you have 2 40+ hour a week working members of the family.

Good knowledge though.

Kari,

Brownberry should have a no corn syrup version. There sugar content is lower then most companies. But try whole foods or trader joes.

It will never be as healthy as it can be if it's fast food, shiloh.
