  1. This page has the class schedule and class memberships. Yun Fit- The Un-Bootcamp offers you the option of 3 different membership categories. Please choose the membership option that is best to fit your goals, budget, and schedule.
  2. To register for the next Phase of Bootcamp you must first be invited to become a regular member of bootcamp. You cannot simply join (unless you are a past member). To register for your trial go to theSchedule Page. If you did receive an invitation, select the membership of your choice based on the different packages below. Then, send an email to jyun@yunbootcamps.com. We will send you the agreement form and take care of everything else for you. Or you can call us @ 614-304-1426 and we can take your registration over the phone. Or a final option is you can download the form on this web page and either email it back to us or bring it back to camp with you. You may also pick up an agreement at bootcamp from your trainer.

Weight Loss versus Fat Loss: Unlocking the Body of Your Dreams Part II

In part I, I talked about the main differences on weather you are going to go for weight or fat loss. Today, I’m going to talk about certain aspects of nutrition related to each. For those of you that don’t know, nutrition is even more important for fat loss than actual exercise. But don’t get me wrong they are both very important. And when you combine both in the right combinations and add rest/recovery into the mix you can turn your body into a fat burning furnace 24/7.

But first we’ll talk about some of the reasons why people fail on a weight loss diet. First off the calories are way too low. People think that in order to lose weight all they have to do is cut the calories. You think to yourself ‘If eating too much made me put on this weight, then to lose it, I just need to reduce what I’m eating.’ WRONG! This will put you into starvation mode, even if you aren’t hungary, your body is starving. You are more prone to add whatever you eat as fat, and you are losing muscle, and your metabolism is slowing down.

Don’t guesstimate your calories. Especially if you are going on a new diet regime. You need to know exactly how much you are eating. But here’s the tricky part when it comes to fat loss– you need to eat under your basal metabolic rate (what you would burn just lying in bed all day)plus your activity level, but you can’t go too far under, otherwise you’ll just go back into starvation mode. Starving yourself is good for weight loss, but again you’re losing muscle and slowing your metabolism down, and you’ll cling to fat like a magnet. The weight will come off easy at first, but then it all comes to a screeching halt. You just hit the weight loss plateau Usually 3 things happen: 1.) you will either continue doing what you’ve been doing expecting a different result, and not getting it 2.) you will stop and try something else, 3.) you will completely stop and the weight will come back (usually more) then you’ll try something else. Stop guesstimating. You need to know your calories.

Now on to carbohydrates. Whoever thought that eliminating an entire food group from the diet was a good idea needs to checked into a mental hospital. You do not need to eliminate them from your diet or severely reduce them. A calorie is a calorie weather or not it comes from protein, carbs, or fat. Each of those has a specific function in your body, and each is needed by the body for metabolic and chemical reactions. Carbs fuel you, they give you energy to last throughout the day and your workouts. However, carbs can be tricky. It’s easy to overdo it. Generally speaking you need more starchy carbs in the beginning of the day, switching to more fibrous, veggie type carbs later in the day. But that’s in general, everybody is different, with different schedules and lives. But totally eliminating them or severely reducing them causes the body to get it’s fuel someplace else, that means extra work for your body, and that means something(s) else in your body isn’t working to it’s full capacity.

Now let’s chew the fat. First off you need to know approximately what your body is burning on a daily basis if you’re going to be successful. You can go here to get an approximate guess: http://tinyurl.com/jcycg. It’s only a guess, remember. There’s a bunch of other things that could lead to more or less calories being burned, i.e. stress, fidgeting, work, etc… Now back to fat. Fat is an essential part of your diet, and needs to be around 20-30% of your daily calories. Here’s an oxymoron for you: eating fat will help you burn more fat. That is as long as it is the healthy kind– poly- and mono-unsaturated, and essential fatty acids. Less than 10% of your total fat calories should be from saturated fats. And NO TRANS FATS. These are the fats that cause the problems– heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, high cholesterol, etc….

Lastly is protein. When eating for fat loss, protein needs to be consumed every 3 hours. Your body does not have a storage facility for protein, like it does fat and carbs. So you need to constantly send it a steady stream of amino acids to constantly burn fat and build lean tissue throughout the day. Skipping meals and protein will cause your body to go into starvation mode again, and it will start ‘eating’ into that hard earned lean muscle tissue, and slow your metabolism and your fat-burning efforts down.

Trust me, eating for fat loss is the way to go for healthy, long-term body image control and disease prevention.

Weight Loss versus Fat Loss: Unlocking the Body of Your Dreams Part I

So what’s the difference? Weight loss? Fat Loss? Isn’t it all the same? The answer is an emphatic ‘NO!’ The problem is the majority of people just want to lose weight, and think by losing weight that they are losing fat at the same time. Again, this is what the majority of people think. And it is drilled into their heads over and over again by media, friends, and co-workers saying a person is over-weight. It’s time to change the thinking, you’re not over-weight, you’re simply over-fat.

So on to weight loss. When you lose weight, the problem is you don’t know if it is fat, muscle, or water. It’s usually all 3. It’s a very big problem with the majority of diets out there. Problem is any amount of fat that you do lose is completely negated by the muscle loss. And you are actually worse off than you were before.

You see the amount of muscle you have plays the biggest role in determining how fast and efficient your metabolism is. Metabolism is basically the amount of calories your body burns throughout the day. When you lose muscle your metabolism slows down, a lot. This means the amount of calories your burning during the day goes down. Muscle is your body’s natural fat burning pill. When this happens the food you now consume has a much higher chance of being converted into fat and stored that way.

Why? Your body wants to burn fat throughout the day, but this happens when it is in an optimal state. An optimal state is fueling the muscles with enough calories and nutrients throughout the day. But when you focus on weight loss, not caring if it’s muscle, water, or fat you’re losing, just focusing on that evil little scale and the number going down, your body goes into survival mode. When it’s in survival mode, your body is basically starving. And when it’s starving, it holds on to fuel that can help it last the longest in that mode, which is FAT. This is the reason why most diets fail—they simply focus on weight loss, usually short-term, not on body composition change.

Now on to fat loss. When you focus on fat loss and changing your body composition, the scale shouldn’t be an issue. You are focused on increasing lean body mass and decreasing body fat. You are more focused on how you look. The mirror should be your judge. If you weren’t too far from your optimal weight, you might not even see the scale move that much. Because as you decrease body fat and increase lean mass, and muscle weighs more than fat, it might not move at all. But clothes will start fitting you better, and more importantly you will start moving and feeling better. If you have the opportunity to get your body fat tested do it. This will let you know precisely if everything is working and how much it is working.

With a fat loss eating plan you are eating enough calories to support, maintain, and hopefully increase your lean body mass. This will in turn fuel your metabolism higher, helping you burn more calories and fat throughout the day. I say ‘fat loss eating plan’ because no diet works forever. If you want a body that you will be proud of for the rest of your life, the food you consume needs to become a lifestyle for you.

This class is lower impact then our typical bootcamp class, but is more advanced. We don’t recommend starting with this class if you’ve been inactive for a while or are considered a ‘beginner’ trainee.

Alternates will be provided if you cannot perform the advanced version

Class programming/design is set up to improve overall strength and conditioning. Will also eliminate or alleviate aches and pains in muscles, joints, tendons. Boost performance and reduce the risk of injury.

A.) Each indivdual must pay a $10 entrance fee. This is the first time we are charging for the contest. The entrance fee will be divided among the top 5 indivduals and #1 team as a prize. Once you register you will be sent an email on where and how to make your fee.

B.) You must be a Columbus, OH area resident within a 60 mile radius of Downtown Columbus. Or you must be a member of the Look Better Naked Online Fitness Bootcamp

3. BEFORE PICTURES & MEASUREMENTS

Your ‘BEFORE’ photos must be taken before the Transformation Contest starts or at the latest on Day 1 (January 16th, 2012).

They must be from the front, and one side (either right or left). Your ‘AFTER’ photo must be from the exact same angles and taken and submitted by March 5th, 2012 by 11:59 pm EST. Front and Side ViewPictures (in form fitting clothes or a swimsuit to clearly outline your physique).

Digital format is preferred as this can be sent through email, or posted on the forum. Please try and take before and after pictures in the same lighting and angles. Please contact me if this is not possible.

Your ‘BEFORE’ Measurements must be taken before the Transformation Contest starts or at the latest on Day 1 (January 16th, 2012). Late entries will be accepted, but the later you enter the less time you will have to transform.

5. All individual team members must submit an essay at least 300 words in length explaining your story and about why you are entering the contest, struggles with health, fitness, and nutrition in the past, etc….

After your transformation is complete all individual team members must also submit their success story after the transformation is complete. This can be submitted either by email to

6. The contest finalists will be selected by Jason Yun. The actual winners will be voted upon on the Yun Fitness Bootcamps Blog. You can see the previous ‘voting’ post here. And also here for the 2nd contest. You cannot vote for yourself 🙂

There will be a final weigh-in day. Date is TBA. But it will be fun 🙂 And there will be lots of cheat food!

–Progress Tracking Methods–

A.) Measurements: This is the best way to measure your progress aside from body fat testing. With measurements you want to make sure factors like loose clothing and tape placement don’t ruin the outcome. Click here to watch a short video on how to best measure.

Showing up for the ‘Weigh-In’ Day would be best.

B.) Real World Test: Pant and/or Dress Size Assessment. Pick an item of clothing you want to be able to wear (or something you haven’t been able to fit into for a while, and test it periodically throughout the Contest.

C.) Scale Weight in Pounds. This is probably the worst way to measure progress, especially if you don’t have too much to lose. Don’t obsess too much with the scale. Measure yourself no more then 1x per week.

D.) Fitness/Nutrition Level/How You Feel. Even if you don’t win the Transformation Contest, small and incremental increases in your fitness and nutrition levels will dramatically improve your life by giving you more strength, better health, more energy, and huge reductions in stress relief.

It’s a Canned Food Drive Workout! Your ticket in is a can of food that will be donated to the local foodbank.

The more food you can bring the better.

Come out and enjoy a great workout for free! Any and all fitness levels are welcome!

All workouts are based on interval training so you just do what you can. Great workout guaranteed!

These workouts are just a taste of what you’ll get from Yun Fitness Bootcamps Are you ready for bootcamp?

This is a free bootcamp.

All that is required for you to participate is a canned food item or two or three. All items will be donated to the Mid-Ohio Foodbank.

Wear your Ohio State gear! If your a Michigan fan be prepared to be laughed at and be prepared to do extra burpees!

What to expect:

  1. Class is 45 minutes in Length.
  2. Intervals! Circuits! Complexes! Partner Training! You will train in a multi-plane, functional atmosphere. It will be fun and creative, but it will hard. It still is for all levels of fitness. Alternates will be provided if you can’t do something
  3. Spot Reducing is impossible. This will be a full body workout. Full body workouts with our interval system have been shown to burn 9x more body fat then regular ‘cardio’. The workouts are designed to flatten your tummy and get that 6-pack!
